The Whole 30: Recap of Day 2
Well yesterday was a little tough while at work. I was in surgery and I didn’t have the availability of a home packed lunch…so I had to make due on a salad consisting of lots of broccoli, tomatoes, and onions topped with oil and vinegar, and a sprinkle of cashews. It was satisfying, but didn’t stick with me. By the time I arrived home I was pretty hungry and happy to tuck into some grilled chicken and this wonderful summer veggie (zucchini, yellow squash, tomatoes, and onions) concoction that I bake in the oven with some Italian herbs. I felt quite content after dinner, but now realize on my OR days I am going to be challenged to make good, Whole 30 compliant choices.
The book, Whole 30 Day by Day®, talks a lot about NSVs (Non Scale Victories). I must say one of the NSVs I am experiencing is better sleep! For someone who often wakes up 2-3 times a night this is a definite plus. I find myself waking before the alarm AND feeling refreshed. Another thing I’ve noticed is less cravings or eating because of the clock. I eat when I am hungry, and happily I am not craving unhealthy carbs. Kind of cool!
