Kodiak Power Cakes
Thanks to one of our patients for asking me about this product. Pancakes are not known to be high in protein but this protein packed mix changes that. Now you can eathigh protein pancakes that are also 100% whole grain and taste great. The protein comes from a blend of wheat protein isolate, whey protein isolate, milk proteinisolate, and egg whites. The whole grains also make them a good source of fiber. One serving of mix made with water makes 4 small pancakes with 14g protein, 5g fiber, and 3g sugar. If you want more protein you can mix it up with milk or milk plus an egg. We tried all three versions and our favorite remains the milk only. I use Fairlife milk so that gives me 20g protein per serving. In comparison, Aunt Jemima Original Pancake Mix (same amount) is 5g protein, 1g fiber, and 6g sugar. The pancakes are not at all heavy or dense as you might expect from a whole grain product. They passed the “kid test” at our house with our grandsons and they loved thepancakes I used to make for them.
The non-GMO mix is made in the American and is packed in a carton made of recycled paper. The company donates a portion of their sales to grizzly bear and wildlife conservation groups.
You can find Kodiak Power Cake mix at the grocery store on the shelf with other pancake mixes. They make different kinds of pancake mix so make sure you get the protein packed variety. For more information click here.
