Laurie McGinley, DNP, RN, APRN-BC, CNS-BC, CBN, is an advanced practice nurse specializing in bariatric patient care with over 20 years of dedicated experience working exclusively with bariatric patients in both hospital and outpatient settings. As Northern Nevada’s only Doctor of Nursing Practice specializing in bariatric care, she brings unparalleled expertise to weight loss surgery patients throughout the region.

Laurie joined Western Bariatric Institute in 2005, where she has built an extensive background in research, teaching, and patient education. Her comprehensive approach to bariatric care encompasses every stage of the patient journey, from initial evaluation through long-term post-operative support. She provides both pre-operative and post-operative care, conducts educational classes, and offers individualized guidance during one-on-one visits throughout her three clinic days each week.

As a nationally recognized leader in bariatric nursing, Laurie served as President of the National Association of Bariatric Nurses, where she contributed to advancing standards of care and professional development for bariatric nursing professionals across the country. Her leadership in this national organization reflects her commitment to excellence in bariatric patient care and her dedication to elevating the specialty.
